Index Publishing is now Trusted Source of the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH)
We are pleased to share that Index Publishing has been incorporated as a Trusted Source of the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH), a European infrastructure aimed at improving the identification, visibility and discovery of journalthat publish under the Diamond Open Access.
This addition allows Index to actively participate in the verification of journal that meet the Diamond OA criteria and in the incorporation and maintenance of their metadata within the DDH.
What does it mean to be a Trusted Source of the DDH?
Being a Trusted Source means that Index can verify journaleligible according to Diamond Open Access criteria and contribute their data to the Diamond Discovery Hub.
This involves checking that journal meet the established criteria, working with reliable metadata, and facilitating their inclusion in the DDH when appropriate.
For Index, this means taking a more active role within the European Diamond Open Access infrastructure and strengthening our work on the quality, reuse and interoperability of editorial metadata.
What benefits can it bring to journal ?
For the journal we work with, this addition opens up new opportunities.
On the one hand, it makes it easier for journalthat meet the criteria to strengthen their presence within the European open access ecosystem and improve their discoverability.
On the other hand, it allows for a more structured approach to aspects such as metadata quality, transparency of editorial policies, information on licenses and funding, and interoperability with other academic infrastructures.
Our incorporation as a Trusted Source will allow us to support journalnot only in editorial and technological production, but also in reviewing their eligibility as Diamond OA, preparing their metadata, and incorporating them into the DDH when appropriate.
Greater interoperability and less duplication of work
For Index, this step also fits with a line of work that we consider increasingly important: that a journal not only publishes correctly, but that its information can be reused, validated and circulated coherently between platforms, Crossref, XML-JATS, indexing, directories and discovery systems.
Academic publishing still relies in many cases on repetitive processes and the input of the same metadata into different systems. Our goal is to move towards more interoperable workflows, in which information can be structured once and reused in different environments.
Integration with infrastructures such as the Diamond Discovery Hub is part of that evolution.
A further step within the European Diamond Open Access ecosystem
This addition also represents a new opportunity to continue collaborating with universities, scientific societies, academic publishers and European infrastructures models publishing with no publishing for authors and readers.
This step adds to our participation in the European Diamond Capacity Hub and reinforces our goal of helping journalgain visibility, interoperability and sustainability without losing their editorial independence.
